GNS Broadband / Rural Virginia Wireless thanks you for visiting our website as we update our services for Wireless Broadband Internet Access to Rural Virginia. GNS, a totally separate company from Digital Bridge (BridgeMaxx) and using different technology for service, is dedicated to providing Broadband Internet Access to the rural customers of Virginia. Launching this program in Appomattox County in Feb. 2008, GNS is planning to increase its coverage to other localities throughout the state, so please check back with our website as we update our progress.
Because of recent media coverage of GNS Broadband by a newspaper in Charleston, WV, as well as the News and Advance and WSET (Channel 13) in the Lynchburg, VA. area about our relentless pursuit to get broadband to rural VA; GNS Broadband is now able to help other rural WISPs with the knowledge and proven equipment to deliver electricity to isolated sites. Being 1 1/2 miles away from commercial electricity; and cost prohibitive to connect, we decided to design, build, and now operate a unique electrical system at our Tower 2 location which costs us about $10 - $15 per month to power all needed equipment on this tower. GNS now offers a consulting service for installing, and instruction for operating such a system. GNS Broadband does NOT limit the amount of bandwidth use to its customers
Coverage area:
Tower 1. Located in Industrial Park in Appomattox, VA.
Covers north to Oakville and east to Vera.
Feeds our 2nd tower at Stratton Dairy Farm.
Tower 2. Located in Stratton Dairy Farm (off Rt. 608) in Concord, VA.
Covers much of northern Concord and western parts of Campbell County
Tower 3. Located on Tower Loop Road in Madisonville, VA
Covers southern and western parts of Appomattox County including Promise Land, Pamplin, Hixburg and Evergreen.
Covers northern part of Charlotte and Prince Edward Counties-including Red House and Phenix.
Speeds:
Wireless Internet: Up to 3072 Kbps (3 Meg) down and up. This compares to dialup speeds of approximately 40 Kbps (0.04 Meg) down and 30 Kbps (0.03 Meg) up.
Dedicated 5.8 MIMO: Dedicated up to 5 Meg. down and up. This is more than 3x the speed of a commercial T-1 at less than 1/2 the cost per month.
Latency: Less than 50 milliseconds. GREAT for Gaming, VOIP, Netflix, and Skype.
Rates:
Wireless Internet: Basic service starts @ $44.95 per month.
Dedicated 5.8 MIMO: $295 per month.

Installation cost: Based on service requested and equipment needed to reach your location. General costs range from $109 to $295. Optional payment plans are offered.
Installation costs are for product procurement. In most cases, GNS does not charge monies for "installation fee".
Our tower's signal is strong enough to cover a 30 mile radius, but is limited in different directions because of topology. Therefore, GNS Broadband conducts an onsite survey prior to any installation to determine the best onsite location with the best signal strength. Unless there are some prohibitive circumstances, the customer does not need to be present during this survey, since it is done completely outside.

Long Term Contracts:
10-day trial period. After that, a 1 year service contract is required.
