  Wireless Broadband To The Country (Rural) Virginia   

Thank you for visiting our website as we update our services for Wireless Broadband Internet Access to Rural Virginia.  GNS, a totally separate company from Digitial Bridge (BridgeMaxx) and using different technology for service, is in the process of launching Broadband Internet Access to the rural customers which began the first part of Feburary 2008.  Launching this program in Appomattox County, GNS is planning to increase its coverage to other counties thoughout the state.  Please check back with our website as we update our progress.

The following items have been established:

Phase 1 Coverage area: ( See map below)

Phase 1

Phase 1 is now live. This phase of coverage consists of areas within 5 miles (from Industrial Park) around the town of Appomattox.  This includes areas from Appomattox north to Oakville, east through parts of Rt.24 and into Vera, south to Promise Land, and west, covering the Spout Spring area.

Phase 2

This phase passed the county planning commission on March 17 and received final approval from the Board of Supervisors on Monday, April 7, 2008.  This phase will expand services from Appomattox to the Stonewall area and from Route 460 to the northwest county line. 

Update:  Our target date for this phase is June 1, 2008.   (April 18,2008)

Phase 3

This phase passed the county planning commission on March 17 and received final approval from the Board of Supervisors on Monday, April 7, 2008.  This phase will increase our northern coverage from Oakville to Bent Creek.

Phase 4

This phase will extend coverage east through Evergreen and into Pamplin.

Each of these phases will take place as quickly as finances and the county allows.

Long Term Contracts:

GNS Networks requires a 6-month service contract.  Once installation is complete, the customer will have a 10-day limit in which to cancel the contract.

Rates:

Rates range from $34.95 to $84.95 monthly.

Installation cost is $295.

Speeds:

Speeds range from 256Kbps to 2Mbps.
